About Me
- Name: Ookpik
- Location: Michigan, United States
I began my interest in vernacular photography by a chance acquisition of over 10,000 negatives dating from the late 1920's through the early 1970's. Luckily, I knew what I had was something more than "someone's old pictures." This cache of old images became the impetus for me to create two Photoblogs: Ookpik’s Negativity and Mystery Ships Of The Great Lakes. Ookpik’s Negativity contains photos that I would like to know more about while Mystery Ships Of The Great Lakes features photos of ships that I am trying to identify.

That was bad. Popular among butcher shops (there's one here that uses that slogan on their bulding) but still... bad. :)
Nice that their Kraft cheese display is on top of the meat counter, so you can make hors d'oeurves easily. :)
Yea, it was lame but probably not as bad as "No one beats our meat." ;)
There is a local roasted nut company named Kar's whose slogan for years was "Nuts to you from Kar's" :)
There are bags of Karr's nuts (oooh!) in the vending machine at my work, and they's tasty. :)
Tangental thought to amuse you:
A local casino has radio ads encouraging people to come spin their "Love of Money Wheel" -- and I shouted back, That's the root of all evil! I couldn't help but think of a 'Catherine wheel of fortune' from a Hieronymus Bosch painting. :)
