Technical Difficulties
Recently, it came to my attention that the photos displayed on Ookpik's Negativity were only intermittently available. This was due to a poor choice of "free" web space providers and has since been corrected. Only the most recent updates were corrected so some pictures may still not be available at all times. As time allows, I will try to update the entire site. I apologize for the inconvenience and hope that you will continue to enjoy the site!

I think that thing is a battery charger. The generator there puts out a few volts, which is wired to a lead cell.
It's the gas generator on the other end of the belt that makes the whole system uneconomical. :)
