Requested By: Percival Smithers
Percival Smithers requested: "Vintage pictures of people going on vacation and either posing near or entering an airplane."
The people are actually exiting the airplane but close enough. The plane is a Capital Airlines DC-4 parked at the Willow Run Airport located in Ypsilanti, Michigan. The photo is from about 1950.
Requested By: Hairmandan
Hairmandan made a very specific and detailed request: "I'm looking for pictures of mid to late 1960's women drinking and smoking at the same time. Cocktail dress."
He further states: "I need to show examples of such to prove I'm not an idiot. Basically, nobody believes that she would hold her glass in the same hand as her cigarette. I can't prove she did, so I'm the shmuck."
Unfortunately, Ookpik's Negativity does not have a single photo featuring a 1960's woman wearing a cocktail dress and holding a cigarette as well as a drink in the same hand. Ookpik was a little owl during this era and can attest that this did indeed happen and photographs do exist. Ookpik himself has seen them. However, since he has none to post, Hairmandan will remain a schmuck. Cheers and good luck in your search!

Robot
MikeG, formerly of Center Line, Michigan, was able to supply Ookpik's Negativity with a photo of a robot when an earlier request for such a picture went unfulfilled. MikeG states that the robot is an early industrial type made by the ASEA company of Sweden. Thank you MikeG! I hope you continue to enjoy the blog!

Hurry! A New Blog!
Please visit my new blog: Mystery Ships Of The Great Lakes
The blog features Great Lakes ships of yesteryear that require identification. See you there!
Thanks to Jeff for identifying the ship in this photo as the Consumers Power. The ship was a self-unloading bulk freighter that was built in 1927 and scrapped in 1988. If you would like to learn more about the Consumers Power, please click here.

A Small Package
Who says good things don’t come in small packages? Robin of Long Island City, New York enjoyed the blog so much that he sent Ookpik’s Negativity a box full of vintage negatives! Robin stated that the box is but a small portion of an extremely large collection that he acquired seven or eight years ago. Thank you Robin!
I hope you continue to enjoy the blog!
